Park Bong Pal (played by Taec Yeon) was a junior student at university. He preferred to be alone for he could see ghosts. Since he was a kid, his friends looked at him as a weird kid so he had no friends. When he grew up, he became an exorcist to collect money so he could operate his eyes. One day, he got a message to cast out a ghost in a high school. There, he met Kim Hyun Ji (Kim So Hyun), a high school female ghost. Hyun Ji was not a mere ghost. She was a strong opponent for Bong Pal.
When Bong Pal was five years old, her mother died before his eyes because of an evil spirit. His father left him and missing. He didn't want to know anything about his father. A monk, Myung Chul, was his father's friend and thought Bong Pal like his own son. He told him not to fight ghosts for it was too dangerous. But Bong Pal would like to end his nightmare and get operated as soon as possible so he hide his side job being an exorcist from the monk.
Hyun Ji was a high school female ghost. She didn't remember who she was or the reason why she was dead. The only thing she knew was her name because she wore her school uniform and name badge. She met Bong Pal when she asked him to cast out a ghost in the school. When they were fighting, they accidentally kissed each other. A piece of her memories crossed her mind. Since then, she followed Bong Pal everywhere in order to get back her memories. Their relationship grew as love but the monk Myung Chul banned their relationship for they were from different world.
Later Hyun Ji knew that she wasn't a ghost but a spirit. Her body was in a coma state. She would like to tell Bong Pal that she was actually still alive but her spirit disappeared in front of Bong Pal's eyes. Bong Pal's senior who had seen Hyun Ji before told him that there was a girl who gained her consciousness after 5 years and her name was Kim Hyun Ji too. Bong Pal when to the Hyun Ji's room in the hospital but Hyun Ji didn't remember him. She lost her memories before accident 5 years ago and the times when she became spirit.
Bong Pal helped Hyun Ji to get back her memories and they found out that Hyun Ji's accident related to Bong Pal. An evil spirit who killed Bong Pal's mother (and father, too) was actually an evil spirit who had possessed him when he was a kid. Bong Pal's mother died because she forced to cast out the evil spirit from Bong Pal's body. His mother had a great skill in magic so she made a weapon to cast out the evil spirit but the weapon was not strong enough so she made a stronger one. Because of that, the evil spirit killed her. The evil spirit now possessed a man named Joo Hye Sung, a professor in the university where Bong Pal attended. The evil spirit chased Bong Pal's father, looking for the weapon but he already took the weapon and gave it to Hyun Ji, a girl whom he met in a temple. He asked to give it to Bong Pal but the evil spirit hit her with his car and that's why Hyun Ji became coma. Hyun Ji must remember where she put the weapon and helped Bong Pal to make the evil spirit disappear.
I love Kim So Hyun and she never disappoints me. Her dramas are always good (I think, LOL). The chemistry between Kim So Hyun and Taec Yeon is so great. The story is also touching, especially about Joo Hye Sung. The reason why he can be possessed by an evil spirit is so saddening. In order to protect his mom, he let the evil spirit come into his body and killed his own father. Overall, this drama is quite good. Love to see a drama with the story about school not always about different social status. ^^
