This movie is quite an old one. It was released in 2003 but since I have reviewed about Korean drama, Kill Me Heal Me, I will review this movie because it is also worth to watch. Kill Me Heal Me tells about a man suffered dissociative identity disorder (DID) from the melancholy side while Identity tells about a man suffered DID from the thrilling side.
It was started with a doctor listened to his recordings with his patient, Malcolm Rivers. He was sentenced to death due to a murder case. He had killed 6 people and he would be executed the next day but his lawyer found an evidence which was not included in the last hearing. It was a diary. It would show who the real murderer was.
It was raining hard. George York, with his wife, Alice and his son, Timmy, was driving a car. He got a problem with his car so he and his wife got off. When his wife was standing outside the car, another car hit her. A limousine driver, Edward Dacota (John Cusack), got off his car and help the woman. He drove an ex-actress, Caroline Suzanne and the five of them went to the nearest motel to get a shelter.
On the other hand, a prostitute, Paris Nevada also got a problem with her car and she ran into a newly wed, Ginny and Lou Isiana. The three of them also went to the motel which was ran by Larry Washington. After that, there was Samuel Rhodes, an officer who brought a prisoner, Robert Maine. 11 people were stuck in a motel because of the flood everywhere and the terror was started.
Caroline was found dead in a washing machine. A room key number 10 was found on her body. The next victim was Lou. After quarreling with his wife, Ginny, he found dead with the stab wound at the corner of their room while Ginny successfully escaped. After that, one by one was found dead with the room key laid next to them. Everyone was suspicious to each other who was the real killer. The tense was raised when the bodies suddenly disappear.
Only four people left; Paris, Edward, Larry and Samuel. In the terror, they accidentally knew that they had the same birthday and their names were made from the name of States in America. When Larry was dead, Paris found out that Samuel was also a prisoner. The suspicion went to Samuel. In the midst of confusing situation, Edward got a headache and a voice from nowhere called his name. Suddenly, he was fastened in a wheelchair with some strangers looking at him. Finally, he recognized one of them. He was Dr. Malick, Malcolm Rivers' psychiatrist.
Dr. Malick asked for a favor to Edward to find the real killer of the series murder 6 years ago. He said that Malcolm was a DID patient and Edward was one of the personalities that Malcolm had. The series murder on the rainy night was actually a personality killing. Among 11 personalities, Edward had to find who the real killer of the series murder 6 years ago and the suspect was Samuel. Edward had to kill Samuel in order to save Malcolm from death sentence. Samuel had to defense himself. He shot Edward and got shot too. Both Samuel and Edward died.
Paris was the only one survivor. She went to an orange farm which she had bought. When she dig soil under the tree, she found the last room key. A shadow came before her and guess who was it? It was Timmy! The real killer was still alive and he was the sole personality.
This movie is quite old, remembering it's already 2016 (LOL) but it's still as thrilling as I watched it for the first time. Though I already know the plot, this movie still brings goosebumps on me. The twist at the end of story is amazing. We can't guess the real killer because everyone looks suspicious. Personaly, this movie is the coolest DID movie. ^^d
