[SERIES] Korean Dramas which the hero/heroine should have been happy in the end

On the previous post, I wrote about some dramas that had good stories but "what the" ending. Now, I'll write about dramas that should have ended happily. After the saddest incidents happened, the main character must be happy, at least to make every struggle and hardship is worth.

1. Winter Sonata

This drama was aired 13 years ago but still worth to watch. Yoo Jin met Joon Sang when they were in high school and then fell in love. One day, Joon Sang got accident when he would like to meet Yoo Jin and he was reported died. 10 years later, Yoo Jin met someone that resembled Jun Sang a lot. His name was Min Hyung. Yoo Jin was curious about him and thought him as Jun Sang though she had been engaged to Sang Hyuk, her childhood friend. As Yoo Jin and Min Hyung worked together, love grew between them but Yoo Jin tried to convinced herself if Min Hyung and Jun Sang were different person. After the truth of Min Hyung revealed, Sang Hyuk couldn't let Yoo Jin go till Min Hyung must go and brought his own feeling with him. Yoo Jin who knew if Min Hyung was Joon Sang, she tried to meet him but she found that he was blind caused by the accident 10 years ago.

This drama was well-known in worldwide. The journey of Yoo Jin, who thought she lost her first love, then she met him but he didn't recognize her. The storyline will make you cry. Though in the end Yoo Jin were with Joon Sang, I hope that Joon Sang weren't blind. He had lost his memory of his love but when he found it after 10 years, he should have seen his lover's face whom he had been longing for.

2. Stairway to Heaven

We move to one year later to the drama which also was played by Choi Ji Woo. The story was about Han Jung Suh and Cha Song Joo who were childhood friends and loved each other. Jung Suh's father remarried after some time from his wife's death. Jung Suh's stepmother brought her real children, Tae Hwa and Yoo Ri. Tae Hwa fell in love with Jung Suh while Yoo Ri hated her for being jealousy of Song Joo.

Three years later, Song Joo who had been back from America wanted to see Jung Suh again and she rushed to meet her love but Yoo Ri tried to stop her and hit her with her car. Being scared and guilty, she told her brother, Tae Hwa, to help her. Tae Hwa brought Jung Suh far away and he changed their names after knowing that Jung Suh lost her memory because of that accident. After she regained her memory, she found out that she had eye cancer due to the accident. Tae Hwa who loved her, committed a suicide in a car accident in order to give his corneas to Jung Suh. Even she got to see again, the cancer already spread to her brain and inoperable. In the end, she died in the arms of Song Joo, her husband.

Despite of her hardship through any circumstance, Jung Suh should have got a better ending. Everyone will die someday, of course but at least please make it happy ending for she had gone through a lot of hardship.

3. 49 Days

This drama will make you cry all the time, I swear it does. Shin Ji Hyun, the only daughter of a rich and loving family, got a car accident few weeks before her wedding to Kang Min Ho. She found that her spirit had separated from her body. Because it wasn't her time to die, she was given 49 days to collect pure tears which were from people who sincerely love her, excluding blood-related, in order to live again. Later, Ji Hyun found out that her fiance wasn't a good guy. She tried to remind her father for Kang Min Ho's true intention.

Cheon Song Yi, a woman who worked at convenience store, got terrible heartbreak after her loss of her boyfriend. Ji Hyun borrowed her body when she was sleeping at noon to do her quest and then she applied a job in her schoolmate, Han Kang. Collecting pure tears wasn't an easy quest apparently. She was desperate but she got to be back alive. During her 49 days, she found out that Han Kang sincerely loved her. After she came back to live, doctor said that she wouldn't live long due to the effect of accident.

The story predictable. A fiance who had bad intention, only focus on money and wealth. The longing of a woman for her only man. Both Cheon Song Yi and Han Kang, lost the people they love and kept them in their hearts. They should have happy ending, remembering that a lot of tears had fallen.

4. Queen Seon Deok

This drama tells about the the first queen of Korea. Inspired by the true story, its plot was intriguing and thrilling. Princess Deokman, was twin of Princess Cheonmyeong but the prophecy made her to be abandoned. She grew up and disguised as a boy and trained as a soldier in Silla. She joined her twin sister and her commander to oppose Mishil, the cruel royal concubine who wanted rule Silla by herself. Later, Mishil had a son, named Bidam who was in love with Deokman. The story went like Romeo and Juliet when Bidam must help his mother while Deokman must protect her country.

I don't know if the character of Bidam really exists but seeing that how Bidam died without knowing that Deokman also really loved him is quite heartbreaking. In the end, it's told that Deokman who had become Queen Seon Deok, died at her old age.
