[SERIES] EMPRESS KI; A Korean Woman Became Mongolia's Empress

Inspired by the history, Empress Ki was a Korean woman and then became Mongolia's Empress. Ki Seung Nyang, was born in Goryeo (Korea) and a daughter of a Palace General. She fell in love with Wang Yoo, the King of Goryeo. Later on, the Yuan Dynasty (Mongolia) would like to take Goryeo over. Toghon Temur was a Crown Prince of the Yuan Dynasty but he didn't have any power to fight. He was weak and couldn't read nor write. He was under control of the Prime Minister, Yeon Chul.

Yeon Chul's son, Dang Ki Se, had killed Seung Nyang's mother when she was a kid and her father too. Seung Nyang held a deep grudge towards Dang Ki Se. To avenge her grudge, Seung Nyang was helped by Bayan, the Yuan Dynasty's General and Tal Tal, his nephew to be an Empress. She was admitted as a candidate to be a concubine. Toghon Temur, who had become an Emperor but still under control of Yeon Chul, married Yeon Chul's daughter. Seung Nyang had lost her baby with Wang Yoo and thought he was dead, agreed to be concubine. Because Toghon Temur had fallen for Seung Nyang since the first time they met, he was happy that he could see her again.

Being the most favorite concubine of the Emperor made Danashiri, the Empress jealous. She tried to kill Seung Nyang but in the end she must die for her attempt to kill Seung Nyang. Later, Seung Nyang knew that Danashiri's son was actually her son with Wang Yoo but he was told that Seung Nyang was the reason of his mother's dead. He grew up by hating his own mother.

After Danashiri's death, another Empress was chosen. She was Bayan's niece. Bayan Khutugh, wasn't far from Danashiri. Despite of her calm attitude and sweet words, she was a terrifying woman. She crueler than Danashiri. Later on, she also died and the position of Empress was empty. Toghon Temur wanted to choose Seung Nyang as his next Empress but Empress Dowager rejected and against him. Like the title, of course Seung Nyang succeeded becoming an Empress though it's not happily-ever-after ending.
